On Monday, US sports magazine Sports Illustrated announced that the 35-year-old basketball player LeBron James has been elected as the 2020 athlete. He was one of five athlete activists to receive this year’s honor with Breanna Stewart, Patrick Mahomes, Naomi Osaka, and Laurent D. Tardif.

The Los Angeles Lakers star became the first athlete to receive the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year award for the third time. Before that, James, who played 17 seasons in the NBA and participated in ten NBA Finals, became the best Sports Illustrated athlete in 2012 and 2016.

LeBron’s career averages are 27.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in 1,265 regular-season NBA games. He has won 4 MVP Awards and has been selected to play in 16 All-Star games.
