Everything about Lietuvo Rytas here.

Quote:Rimas Kurtinaitis will not be moving to Treviso, lrytas.lt reports. Lithuanian coach admitted that he received a contract offer from Benetton Treviso but also said that the last word belongs to Lietuvos Rytas.

Chairman of Lietuvos Rytas, Jonas Vainauskas, said that Rytas was not contacted by Benetton regarding the possibility of signing Rimas Kurtinaitis. The talks between the coach and Italian club were unfair according to Vainauskas.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Babrauskas is SG? I hope this is a joke and I really hope Gecevičius will show what he can this season. Preseason was very good as usually and the BBL cup as well.

Gecevičius must use this chance to establish himself as a starting lineup player and be useful for the team. The guard line of Rytas is really weak if we speak in context of Euroleague. Popovic has no cover off the bench. Gecevičius needs more stability from long range.

that looks like a weak roster. then again you never know with rytas

Quote:Milko Bjelica will remain a player of Lietuvos Rytas at least till the summer 2011 ater signing a contract extension with Lithuanian champions. This is the second year at Rytas for 25-year-old Montenegrin who arrived to the club before 2008-2009 season. Despite being originally signed as a backup, Bjelica became a key part of the team.

During 10 Euroleague games this season Bjelica averaged 11.8 points and 4.3 rebounds. His stats are even better in Lithuanian league (LKL) - 15.5 points 4.5 rebounds per game.

Lietuvos Rytas is already building the team for next year having already signed one of the top prospects in Europe Jonas Valanciunas, Kenan Bajramovic and Igor Milosevic. Jonas Vainauskas, Chairman of Rytas, told to the press that there are three ways for his team to play in Euroleague next season. The first one is to win LKL. Another way is to finish 2nd in LKL and then qualify through Euroleague qualifying tournament. And finally the club could be given a wild card by Euroleague.

Bojan Popovic left the team.

I read transfer rumuor about Omar Cook-Efes Pilsen. If it comes true, does Popovic go back Rytas? What do you think?

I. Miloševič is going to be the main PG of Rytas next season. Unless he won't be good enough. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of his playing style, but he might improve in the future. As for Popovič, Rytas won't get him back surely. He's too expensive now for Rytas and he's not clutch player that Rytas needs.

I wouldn't mind Ž. Kelys taking this role out of Igor <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Vainauskas is hoping to add another strong player to Rytas' roster. If they survived and almost reached top 16 this year, they will be really dangerous next year (If they will get to Euroleague).

honestly i have not seen kelys. no idea. but rytas always has a very good scouting so i trust they will come up with a competitive team. btw you're zalgiris fan, why you care so much bout rytas? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Just as straight forward pointed out, Popovic's price will be too high for Rytas. And they are not known for bringing back key players. They look for new cheap replacements instead. Besides PG position is covered at least right now.

I think both me and straight forward are the fans that see the bigger picture instead of just one club. So we support all Lithuanian teams in general. Of course there are favourite clubs. Personally when I watch two Lithuanian teams face each other, usually I root for the underdog or the team, a win of which would benefit Lithuanian basketball as a whole. For example, Rytas needs to beat Zalgiris in order to qualify for Euroleague then I'd root for them in that game.

Exactly as Vilius said. I have to say my favorite team is Lithuanian national team than goes Žalgiris and than goes Lithuanian team that has some prospects that I like (national team material). To be honest Rytas is exactly the team that produces most of NT key players since 1999 and Žalgiris came up with some kind of crisis at that point (no surprise, there was a lot of mess in Žalgiris last decade). I really enjoyed Rytas at Euroleague this season and I want two teams at Euroleague next season as well, not to mention that Gecevičius is one of my favorite Lithuanian players since his great performances with Youth NT and now when they have everyday-progressing Valančiūnas, it's a pleasure to keep after them.

Lietuvos Rytas signed 18-year-old 1.91 m Paulius Dambrauskas from their unofficial "B" Perlas to a 5-year contract. Dambrauskas is averaging 7.9 points per game in LKL this season.

Gedvydas Vainauskas, the owner of Rytas, said that four players will leave the team and they will be replaced with the new ones. He also revealed that two of them have already agreed to sign the contracts and two are very close but Rytas have to wait until domestic leagues are finished. From what we know already Šikšnius and Newley are done deals. The question is who are the other two and who will be those four players that will depart. It's certain that Ginevičius is out. Sinica shouldn't stay either. Then the other two are among Zavackas, Jomantas and Babrauskas.
