Turkey

I believe the Turks have superior depth more players. In Q3 and Q4 France was exhausted from Turkey and they let them off the hook. They wore the French down! Instead of shooting 3pts drive the ball in. Be aggressive! Turkey especially with Semih Erden(injured) has more quality players than France. like Team USA in 4th quater most teams get tired because we have so many quality bodies. The problem is Turkey is a Ferrari or Bugatti car BUT the driver is no expert driver(coach). I only blame the coach for bad overall strategy! What happened to the 2010 WC coach?

FRANCE

France showed weakness against the zone. France showed some confusion on offense. Say what you will they are undefeated and won two consecutive close games. France may not run as smooth as Serbia and other teams they played BUT they beat them. France is for real. They can pass good, good strategy, they can shoot well but are streaky. Say what you will they win...

France just confirmed my(and not only mine) opinion that they are losers and not serious as a team. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Even if you want you can't lose such a game and they almost did it. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

I don't know how well France will react against a defensive team like Greece, Russia or Slovenia.

Group E might have more great teams than group F but most of them are great because of their offense.

On the other hand, in group F, we have the 3 best defensive teams(you can see that in the stats too. They are 1, 2 & 3 in points allowed category)! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think that the knock-out round will be much more interesting than most people think!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yes France was weak to the zone today BUT...A Turkish 3-2 zone is superior to a Serbian 3-2 zone. Because the turk team is athletic and players have long arms. So yeah other teams can try the zone BUT if they can't stop France from passing inside and driving they're screwed. People can talk all they want about France weaknesses BUT few teams can take advantage of said weaknesses...

My point is just cause Turkey can stop France with zone doesn't mean every team can. Turkey has long arms and athletes. France won two back to back close games. Who know only time will tell....

Well actually in this day and age you'd be surprised how many similarities we share <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> I've got a Turkish good friend who lives closeby to me and we laugh about the similarities we uncover every so often between the two countries over time <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I also hve no problem with greek people. I don't have any greek friend to knw them better though.

Actually Turkey is good at defending too, if only we can shoot a little better.

Ene (Our coach) was not that bad tonight because game was so tight until last 4 minutes of 3rd quarter, devastation came fast that he couldn't respond ( 2 3 pointers in a row from France...)

And last period zone was his call , his set succeeded to find Tunceri for the shot too , yet , we shoot very bad here. So we waste all the effort we give, I am really sorry for tonight because I think this match was the key. We could have seen the final. Now we must defeat germany with a good game to fac serbia in a confident mental stance. And Serbs are alway very tough rivals for us. And unfortunately Dirk ill use his last energy at our match which will make it soooo hard. But we still have a hope.

France , seems very undisciplined to me and I can't see more than Parker's genius. He is there when and where he is needed. Wonderful player. Without him France is not a threat, (According to me)

Thing is as a Turk I want to defeat or get defeated by 30 points next time , or I'll have an heart attack watching our matches.
Teodosic what a plonker... technical form the bench. [Image: crazy.gif]
Turkey has two serious problems. First one coaching and the second one is deficiency of play maker position. Just think, you are 3 points behind at a game, you have one red hot sharp shooter player and you have 6 seconds. Would you use that player for scrimmage the ball. Orhun is unbelievable. And the second one is Kerem Tunçeri. He can make MVP the player that he defend.

Tunçeri seems very sad and exhausted at this tournament. I don't know why. Maybe just got old (or realised it) or about his eye (it can be seen that his right eye has a problem).

A good Tunçeri and Arslan makes a PG but I don't know what will we do after Tunçeri and Onan , we need a new PG or some PG's to complete each other.

I don't blame Orhun very muh , the comeback was by his tactics. And it was imossible to predict the margin will be 13 in 2 minutes.

Preldzic, is very valuable player with a huge brain , yet he is doing strange mistakes at last balls. Don't blame him though.

It's amazing how Serbians never accept a loss <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />
Very well deserving victory for Lithuania(100-90) and they achieved it by playing great basketball!!

Kalnietis was red hot and Saras gave score to many of his teammates with his fabulous passes(most of them to Valanciunas!).

On the other side only Krstic was solid. Teodosic we all know he have to learn how to control his emotions and how to control hiself. Sometimes his attitude is proven harmful for his team(today was one of those times). <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Today we saw 3 great games and I hope the same for tomorrow! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

GO GREECE!
What could Orhun do? Come in and do an inbound pass inside 5 seconds? Is it his fault some of his players are sleeping while they play in Eurobasket crucial games?

I told this before... Efes trusting its multimillion squad in the hands of nobodies like Tunceri is not a wise choice... same goes for Turkey. Time to naturalize an American PG?
I don't know whose decision was the 3 point shot of Tunceri but it was a ridiculous one. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

By the time they were behind by 2 and they had a terrible percentage behind the arc, they had to go for the tie... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />

Of course Orhun is not the unique responsible of this defeat, but we should admit that he couldn't use the last chance of the team at crucial times. The main reason for this loss, at the end of the third quarter we lost the control of the game. However we could come back but it was too late.

A few years ago we tried to make Will Solomon a Turkish citizen, but it didn't happen. In 1999 Kerem Tunceri was our PG and we are in 2011 he is still our PG. I guess we are cursed.
By the way today I professed a great esteem to Lithuania and Saras one more time. After this game it seems that we will fight against Serbia for the fourth place.

I want to ask you a question.

Would you be proud as a Turk to have on your team an American(Solomon)?!

Are you proud having a foreigner in your team now(Preldzic)?!

*I also think that neither Ilyasova is Turk.

**No offense, I'm just curious. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Well we Turks like Tunçeri , he is not one of the best but not as bad as he is at this tournament, he lacks consantration, don't know why. Overall he has a problem with shooting but he has heart and quite well at penetrations , besides he is immune to be pressed. More valuable than you think. Thing is our shadow PG is Hidayet, that sometimes force Tunçeri to play like SG hich he is not.

It was a good set I think. Worth trying. I'm not upset about that. But 5 second violation is ridiculous and a scandal at that level.

Actually you didn't ask me but I want to say something.

No, I definitely wouldn't be proud of that.

And I'm not proud of having Preldzic (Still as a bosnian muslim playing here for several years I feel kinda co-nation with him)

But Ersan is a bit different, not only we share the same nation on a higher level but also we have trained him as far as I know.

In Turkey there many muslim immigrants from balkans , they are turks (or citizens but naturally integrated much before starting basketball career, like black frenchs) and they are taller than anatolian turks. And clubs are training those boys mostly. Like Hido and Aşık, I support that, because we would be living together and speaking the same language and sharing the same belief even though they had not become professional basketball players.
First of all Emir run his big share of his development at Fenerbahçe in Turkey. He is more Turk than many Turkish players and of course I'm proud of him. Solomon's personality is fairly different from Turkish people. For this reason many people just can't accept him. But this would not be a problem for me. And he also has a place in heart of all Fener fans.

By the way Ersan is actually Turk. Because Uzbek people contents many different races like Turks, Russians or Chinese. This is a litlle bit historical subject.
Personally, I couldn't celebrate Greece's successes as much as now if we had made it with foreigners.

Even if we had allow Mike Batiste(is 8 years in Greece and PAO) to play with our national team(he said he wanted to, very much!) I wouldn't like that and you can't imagine how much I love Mike...

Anyway, I might be more romantic than others in such issues...! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
