Leicester Riders have confirmed their first overseas signing of the summer by adding point guard Cameron Rundles for the upcoming season.

The 6’1 guard will be replacing retired point guard J.R. Blount, as he now begins a coaching career. This will be Rundles’ rookie season in the British Basketball League.

Rundles is a highly rated ball handler who has just graduated from Wofford College in the U.S., where he averaged 14 points, 2.5 assists and just over a steal a game, helping the University to a 21 wins against 13 losses, and to make the NCAA playoffs 2 years in a row.

Originally, Rundles went to the University of Montana where he played for two years alongside an ex-Rider Matt Martin, and was Rookie of the Year in their Conference, in his first year there, before transferring to Wofford for his final two years.

“Cameron is someone I have been tracking for a while and he comes to us as a very highly rated, talented and versatile combo guard, who will give us lots of options,” Riders coach Rob Paternostro said.

“I have talked to many of my contacts who have seen him play, and the verdicts were unanimous – we are getting a quality guy and a winner. Cameron is particularly strong on leadership and doing all the little things that can make a team better, and that kind of leadership is just what we need at the guard position. He shoots the ball very well, can defend a number of positions, and is just one of those guys you want to have in your team.”

Rundles joins BBL veteran Barry Lamble in Paternostro’s squad for the new season. The fixtures will be released tomorrow.
