Cajasol is at the bottom of the ACB

ImageCajasol lost again in the 4th round of ACB. This time their rival was Bruesa GBC, one of the weakest teams in the competition, which came to Seville ready to fight; unfortunately, we cannot say the same about sevillian team.

Bad times for Cajasol Seville. In this team, something always happens. Maybe can be bad days of their main players, bad luck, bad concentration. There is always something bad. This time was a harmful lack of concentration in the beginning of the game which drove the team to a new defeat. It seems for the moment we won’t stop talking about defeats, because next week they face big team Real Madrid, and a week later they will play in Bilbao, a very difficult arena to win.

The game started without Cajasol on the court. Bruesa scored twenty-four points in the first quarter, with Isaac López hitting three-pointers every time he wanted. Tyrone Ellis didn’t seem to be worried about that, but at least Manel Comas noticed it and replaced him by Pecile. In addition to this horrible defense, Cajasol only could score eight points in this first quarter, with a lost Bennett who could not control the game at all.

The second quarter saw Cajasol finding theirself how to score, with a great Warren Carter in the paint. If it was not for him, this team would have received a big corrective. Pecile, always playing with heart and passion, and Ignerski, who started to score after a bad first quarter, drove the team to finish this period with a difference of ten points; a big prize after what was seen in the first ten minutes. Maybe they didn’t deserve so much. Lou Roe, playing this year in Bruesa, was the main scorer of his team, as he always has done in his career.

Something hard had Comas to tell to his players in the halftime, because they started to play as a team, with good work on defense, good job on the offensive end, with Pecile, Miso and Ignerksi having the responsibility in scoring. This is the kind of team that it was supposed to be. Bruesa finished this quarter with only four points of advantage.

But it was a clear that Cajasol had to pay their bad beginning. Their last effort was not enough to win this game. It seems that they have to learn with every defeat, instead of trying to do things right. Their fans are still for the perfect game of this team, in which they will have the desire of win, the ambition to make it to the Copa del Rey, which now seems so far away. At the press conference, Manel Comas tried to explain that his team “suffer from anxiety”, and it paralyses their game. “We are at the bottom; we cannot play worse, so the only thing left is improving”. He also said that “great teams are those which are able to work even more when times are bad, to reach their best level”. And that’s what they will have to do, if they don’t want to come from Madrid next week with a defeat by thirty, as it happened against Unicaja.
