Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges is gearing up for a highly anticipated return to the court, expressing a mix of emotions as he prepares to end his 30-game suspension. He hasn’t played since April 2022.

Bridges, who faced suspension due to a domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend and two children, is set to rejoin the Hornets after a lengthy absence.

In a recent interview, Bridges conveyed his excitement, comparing the feeling to the anticipation of the first day of school during childhood. The forward emphasized the joy of finally getting back to the game he loves after a wait of 588 days.

“It feels good,” Bridges said, per Roderick Boone of Charlotte Observer. “I’ve waited what, 588 days? So, I’m just excited. I feel like the first day of school when I was a kid. So, I’m just happy to get back.”

Acknowledging the range of emotions, Bridges admitted to feeling more anxious than nervous, emphasizing that basketball has been his sanctuary throughout his life.

“I wouldn’t say nervous because I’ve been doing this my whole life,” the 25-year-old forward said. “I would say anxious because basketball has been my sanctuary, and for me to be away from it for a year, it’s kind of been hard on me. So, I’m just happy to be back.”

Addressing the public perception of his comeback, Bridges acknowledged that he understands people’s feelings and recognizes the need to regain trust.

He aims to shift perspectives through his on-court performance, focusing on contributing to the team’s success and winning back the support of fans.

During the 2021-22 season, Bridges showcased his skills with an impressive average of 20.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 35.5 minutes per game, setting the stage for his return with heightened anticipation.
