The Chicago Bulls and DeMar DeRozan find themselves in contract extension negotiations, but sources reveal that both parties are currently “apart on multiple fronts.”

As the Bulls kicked off the season with a loss against the Thunder, a players’ meeting, and reported tensions within the team, the future direction of the franchise is paramount for DeRozan.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the extension discussions have hit a roadblock, with disparities in terms of both the number of years and salary.

The uncertainty surrounding the Bulls’ performance and trajectory is also weighing heavily on DeRozan’s mind.

“They’ve been talking about an extension, but I’m told that the sides are apart right now on multiple fronts – years, salary,” Charania shared on Run It Back.

“DeMar DeRozan wants to see where this Bulls team goes. They’re 0-1 to start the year. They had a players’ meeting after game 1 of the season. That’s not the way to start the year. DeMar DeRozan wants to see where this is going.”

DeRozan, a 34-year-old small forward, is a six-time NBA All-Star and is currently in the final year of his 3-year, $81.9 million contract.
