As anticipated, Josh Hart, who is currently with Team USA preparing for FIBA World Cup, is on the verge of solidifying his future with the New York Knicks by signing a significant contract extension.
The 28-year-old shooting guard previously opted into his player option, valued at nearly $13 million, for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski took to Twitter to announce the news, stating that Hart is finalizing a four-year, $81 million contract extension. The deal is set to deliver Hart a total of $94 million through 2027-2028 season.
Hart’s journey to this extension took a few turns, as he embarked on the 2022-23 season with the Trail Blazers before being traded to the Knicks during the trade deadline.
During his time with the Knicks, Hart averaged 10.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 30 minutes per game. This remarkable performance further solidified his role in the team’s future plans.
