The basketball blood of the Thompsons runs deep in the Bay Area, as the older brother of Klay is now set to help Steve Kerr’s coaching staff.

As provided by team insider Kylen Mills, the Warriors are promoting Mychel Thompson, Klay’s older brother, for a video coordinator role in their basketball operations department.

Mychel, who went undrafted in the 2011 Draft, played in various teams professionally, more notably with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011-2012 season wherein he just appeared after five games. He also managed to play in Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz Warriors from 2013 to 2015 and a second stop in 2016 to 2017. After that, he finally decided to retire.

Mychel played a significant role for the Warriors last season, serving as a development staff for them in helping Klay to rehab and return from ACL and Achilles tear injuries.
