Ben Simmons makes NBA return in Kings’ loss to Warriors

The Sacramento Kings fell 111-106 to the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on Saturday, October 10, as Ben Simmons returned to NBA action after spending the entire 2025-26 season away from basketball.

Simmons, who joined Sacramento in the offseason, started at guard and finished with seven points, four assists and two turnovers in nine minutes. He shot 2-for-4 from the field and went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line, marking his first game action since his extended absence.

The Kings dropped to 0-3 in the preseason and 0-2 on the road, while Golden State improved to 2-2 overall and remained unbeaten at home at 2-0.

Sacramento held a narrow 25-24 lead after the first quarter, but the Warriors responded with a 37-point second period to take a 61-56 advantage into halftime. Golden State maintained its lead in the third quarter and entered the final period up 89-81.

The Kings made a late push, cutting the deficit to 103-101 after Jonathan Mogbo scored with 3:27 remaining. However, Charles Bassey answered with two free throws, and Will Richard’s three-pointer with 2:10 left restored a five-point Warriors cushion.

Sacramento continued to fight, with Mogbo converting free throws to make it 108-106 with 37.6 seconds remaining. Richard then made two free throws, and Bassey added another at the line to secure the Warriors’ five-point victory.

Darius Acuff Jr. led Sacramento with 25 points and eight assists, shooting 8-for-15 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range. Mogbo contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, while Maxime Raynaud added 10 points and five rebounds without missing a field-goal attempt.
