A one, lucky bidder is set to bring home a piece of history from the late great Black Mamba.

Kobe Bryant’s game-worn jersey in his rookie year has been sold in an auction for $2.73 million this Sunday.

SCP Auctions, the one that handled the bidding war for the prized gear, said that the buyer wants to remain anonymous.

The gold jersey was donned by the hall of famer in two separate regular season games against the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings in the 1996-1997 campaign. Its authenticity was verified via photo-matching of independent authenticators.

David Kohler of SCP Auctions initially estimated the jersey to fetch from the range of $3 million to $5 million. Last year, a signed Bryant uniform was also auctioned and set the highest price for a basketball jersey at $3.69 million.

Together with his daughter, Gianna, and seven other close people, Bryant died in a tragic helicopter crash last January 2020. He was named into the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team this season.
