Kristaps Porzingis was not at his best in the series against the Los Angeles Clippers being often used as a decoy for Luka Doncic in the Dallas Mavericks’ offense.

Doncic had incredible numbers across the board in the seven-game series vs. Leonard and co., however he could not find any help from his teammates in the Game 7 blowout loss.

According to ESPN’s Tim McMahon, Kristaps Porzingis, who is considered the second superstar in Dallas’ squad, has been frustrated with his offensive role.

“But Porzingis has been frustrated, often feeling more like an afterthought than a co-star as Doncic dominates the ball and the spotlight, sources told ESPN. Porzingis frequently made thinly veiled references during his postgame media availabilities, such as saying the “ball actually moved tonight” after high-scoring performances or stating that the offense didn’t involve him on low-scoring nights.”

Porzingis averaged 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds in the series against the Clippers being unable to take advantage of his size when Ty Lue put wing defenders on him.

With Porzingis’ fit and durability being a question for the near future, the Mavericks may have an interested offseason as they are hoping to build a contending team around Luka Doncic.
