Raptors trade Norman Powell to Trail Blazers

The Toronto Raptors have traded Norman Powell to the Portland Trail Blazers for Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Powell, 27, is having a career-best season, averaging 19.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from three-point.

He will be a key contributor for a Trail Blazers team that is currently 6th in the Western Conference.

Trent on the other hand, will have the chance to start for the Raptors alongside Fred VanVleet, if Kyle Lowry is also dealt at some point.

Trent, 22, is also having a career-best season averaging 15.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, while shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point.
