This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired point guard Dennis Schroder, who already expressed his desire to start for the defending NBA champions. However, head coach Frank Vogel says LeBron James will remain the primary ball handler.

“I don’t think LeBron’s role is going to change even if he has the ability to defer to another playmaker out there. He’s still going to be the primary ball handler, just like he’s been throughout his entire career, whether he has another guard out there with him or not,” Vogel said, per Melissa Rohlin.

James led the league is assists last season with 10.2 assists per game while being the primary ball handler for the Lakers.
