Maybe it explains Kleiza's line "I still don't know why I came back to NBA, I have no good reasons". Well, hopefully the operation will be fine and he'll get back on track even stronger.

Having in mind Kleiza is very unlikely to play in Eurobasket, the question of Å aras and KaukÄnas becoming way more important. Kleiza was undisputed leader of NT in of 2010 giving some monster performances. I don't see Pocius or other player filling that hole from the team of 2010 (maybe GeceviÄius will be international star when he'll reach his peak). That can do only Å aras and KaukÄnas. Everyone knows what things Å aras can bring, but KaukÄnas somehow left in the shadow of Lithuanian fans though he's not even thinking about slowing down. In fact he's as good as always been and probably better because of experience. KaukÄnas is probably individually strongest players of Lithuania leaving Kleiza aside. I see him coming from the bench and giving his sharpness when there's a need.

Youâre right Straight Forward, theyâll need Saras and Kaukenas on the team to make up for the loss of Kleiza. But the loss will still be felt during the tournament in my opinion. But like you said if theyâre isnât anybody else who can fill in the gape. Saras and Kaukenas would help a lot but that doesnât fill the gap entirely. GeceviÄius could be a star in a couple of years if he can keep on developing very well. Like you said if Kaukenas is going to play for the team, they should use him by letting him come off the bench. He would give them an offensive spark off the bench. He and Saras would guide the team with all their experience. And I also have the same opinion as you about the fact that Kaukenas individually is one of the strongest players of Lithuania aside Kleiza.
If I was the coach of Lithuania I would take the following 14 players: C: Javtokas, PetraviÄius PF: JankÅ«nas, MotiejÅ«nas, K.LavrinoviÄ SF: Jasaitis, MaÄiulis SG: KaukÄnas, GeceviÄius, Pocius, Delininkatis, Seibutis PG: JasikeviÄius, Kalnietis Delininkatis could also play point guard. I think if he plays in the tournament heâll play point guard. Gecevicius could also play Small Forward. Even without the loss of Kleiza I think that Lithuania is still one of the favorites to win the title.

Good ideas Kenneth! But GeceviÄius can't play at 3, better to try him as a point guard. It would be great if Pocius would fit at 3 as well.

siska repeated that he won't play for the nt. Gecevicius can run the point for a few minutes, i think it has been tried before and the results were not bad

In this case, we needn't Jasaitis who is absolutely joke (in Lietuvos Rytas), with this we could use Delininkaitis/GeceviÄius as PG and other of them as SG, also in SG we would have KaukÄnas and Pocius/Seibutis. One of these two could play as SF.

He's very good option at 3 and he will prove his quality. He already should be 100% ready in BBL and LKL playoffs and he'll deliver.

When he will think about ball more than partying, then he will be good but for now...the biggest disappointment of Rytas' players.

Has he been partying so much? I don't know so much about that situation maybe you can explain it [/quote] Well, before signing with Rytas he was partying really a lot. And he is that kind of guy who likes to do it very much, even right now on the court he looks lazy and without energy...also some people says rumors about him partying. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> In any case, many of Rytas' players like partying.

I agree that Gecevicius can play the point if needed. I disagree whole heartedly that he should. He should only be used at Point if they're really trying to run a crazy lineup to mess with the opposition's defense or in the event of unforeseen injuries to real point guards. Delininkaitis has always struck me as a player who plays better off the ball yet he is always finding himself running the offense. I'm much more comfortable with him at PG than Gecevicius but he's a backup caliber player at best. If Delininkaitis and Gecevicius is the best tandum we can do at PG, it's going to be a LONG, LONG tournament. |
