Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon both scored 40 points for the Rockets in a postseason game 25 years ago today

Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon were unstoppable with the Rockets facing elimination at home against the Utah Jazz. They won the game 123-106 to tie their first-round series at two apiece.

Drexler had 41 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Olajuwon had 40 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. They combined to go 26-40 on field goals and 25-29 on free throws.

For the Jazz, Karl Malone had 31 points, six rebounds, and five assists. John Stockton had 26 points and 11 assists.

Houston’s victory set up a winner-take-all Game 5 in Utah. Once again, the Jazz could not stop Drexler and Olajuwon. Olajuwon finished with 33 points and 10 rebounds, while Drexler finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Their clutch performances helped Houston come from behind in the fourth quarter to win 95-91.

The Rockets then eliminated the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs, before deafening the Orlando Magic in the 1995 NBA Finals. It was Houston’s second consecutive championship.
