On This Day: Michael Jordan came out of retirement and played his first NBA game in 17 months

Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes we have ever seen in the world of sports. Twenty five years back, March 19 marked a special day for basketball fans as his “Airness” returned to the court after a 17-month hiatus.

Jordan had came officially out of retirement just a day earlier with his historic “I’m Back” announcement. The next day, he played his first NBA game for Chicago since Game 6 of the 1993 Finals against Phoenix.

In Indiana’s home court against the Pacers, Jordan officially returned, scoring 19 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists in a contest that became the most watched regular season game in NBA history.

The Pacers downed the Bulls in overtime 103-96, but the standout part of the “battle” was Michael Jordan’s return to action.
