After failing to make their case (to replay the home game against Siena) to the Euroleague independent Disciplinary Judge and the independent Appeals Judge, the Euroleague champions have taken their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, in Switzerland.

Lausanne, 18 March 2013 – The Greek basketball club Olympiacos Piraeus has filed an urgent appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to request that the Euroleague game Olympiacos-Montepaschi Siena of 18 January 2013 be replayed.

At the end of that match, Olympiacos filed a protest because of a failure of the official game clock. On 24 January 2013, the protest was rejected by the Disciplinary Judge who confirmed the final score Olympiacos 72–74 Siena. On 20 February 2013, the Appeals Judge of the Euroleague confirmed the decision of the Disciplinary Judge.

The CAS has initiated an expedited procedure with the agreement of the Euroleague and of Montepaschi Siena, which has the status of an interested party. A hearing is scheduled for 22 March 2013 in Lausanne and a final decision should be rendered before the end of March 2013.
