EuroLeague’s 13 shareholder clubs have agreed to proceed with converting their existing 10-year licenses into franchises.
The decision was made during the Euroleague Commercial Assets shareholders meeting in Cernobbio, Italy, on October 6, where club owners discussed the long-term structure of the competition.
The 13 clubs involved in the franchise conversion are Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, CSKA Moscow, Armani Olimpia Milan, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich, Fenerbahce Istanbul, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olympiacos Piraeus, Panathinaikos Athens, Real Madrid and Zalgiris Kaunas.
The change would replace the current license arrangement with a franchise structure for the existing shareholders, representing an important part of EuroLeague’s long-term business strategy.
The owners agreed to continue the process, with the competition now moving forward with the proposed transformation.
