Blake Griffin might miss Olympics

USA’s injury woes have continued as forward Blake Griffin has been sidelined with a knee injury.

Griffin looks certain to miss USA’s opening Olympic warm-up game against Dominican Republic later tonight and is now a doubt for the Olympics.

The number one pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, Anthony Davis has been recalled to the line-up and the new addition to the New Orleans Hornets could be in-line to start against the Dominicans tonight.

Davis, himself is still feeling the effects of an ankle injury which he is yet to recover from.

Meanwhile, Griffin flew back to Los Angeles for an MRI scan on his left knee, the same one he injured during the NBA Playoffs as USA Basketball officials wait for the results.

In a statement, the Clippers said that Griffin will be examined on Sunday by Dr. Neal El Attrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Southern California.

With Griffin looking likely to join Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Chauncey Billups, LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade on the injured list, the USA will have no back-up big men to call upon during the Olympics with Tyson Chandler and Kevin Love already facing the task of playing extra minutes in London.

After the game in Las Vegas against the Dominican Republic, the U.S. will face Brazil in Washington D.C. before they fly to Manchester to face Great Britain.
