Jeff Van Gundy, Tom Thibodeau reportedly among candidates to take over the New York Knicks

Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau are among the candidates for the head coaching position of the New York Knicks, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Knicks will hire Leon Rose as their new president of basketball operations and the former NBA agent will start searching for the new head coach.

“According to NBA insiders, ex-Knicks assistant Tom Thibodeau and former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy are expected on Rose’s short list.

Thibodeau is a Creative Artist Agency client and has worked with Rose, who will leave his position as head of CAA’s basketball department. According to a source, Van Gundy likes Rose and the feeling is mutual,” Berman reports.

The Knicks will miss the playoffs for another season, being at 17-37 in the standings.
