CSKA Moscow will be forced to play the games against Armani Milano and Panathinaikos in another Russian city or in Europe.
The two games will take place on December 26 and January 3, respectively. However, both home courts of the Muscovites (USK CSKA and Megasport Arena) will be unavailable on these dates.
Therefore, the team is examining alternative court options and the two games will be played either in another city in Russia or in a European city.
Here is what the president of CSKA Moscow, Andrei Vatutin, told the Russian website TASS:
“We have not taken a decision about these games yet, as Megasport Arena and USK CSKA won’t be available. We informed EuroLeague in June that there would be an issue with these two dates, but the schedule was set up in order to be convenient for all 18 teams.
There is no vacancy in Moscow for these two dates, thus we have to seek a solution outside the capital and we are considering options both in Russia and Europe. We will gladly accept offers from other cities.
EuroLeague’s basic criteria for a game is an arena with a minimum capacity of 7,000 seats and we will seek a solution within Europe, though we take into account every option, that has to be approved by EuroLeague.”
