NBA and Basketball Scotland expand Jr. NBA League in Scotland

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Basketball Scotland today announced the expansion of the Jr. NBA Basketball Scotland League to two leagues, in addition to the first-ever Jr. NBA Wheelchair Basketball League.

To mark the announcement, Jim Naismith, the grandson of the inventor of basketball Dr. James Naismith, who is of Scottish heritage, will attend a special Jr. NBA clinic May 18 in Glasgow.

The existing Jr. NBA Basketball Scotland League, a school-based league for boys and girls ages 11-12, featured schools from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness, with the second league expanding to further cities to be announced at a later date.

Each team involved will represent one of the 30 NBA teams and will receive corresponding NBA team-branded jerseys for their games.
