The Golden State Warriors edged the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA opener

The Oklahoma City Thunder came close to defeating the Golden State Warriors, yet the defending champions stood tall and claimed the victory (108-100).

Golden State had control of the game in the first half (29-19, 31-23, 57-47), but Paul George exploded and scored 15 points in the third quarter to give Oklahoma the lead (66-67).

The defending champions stood tall, though, and were victorious in the opening night of the NBA.

Stephen Curry had 32 points, eight rebounds and nine assists for the winners, with Kevin Durant adding 27 points, eight boards and six assists.

On the other hand, George finished the game with 27 points for the Thunder, as Dennis Schroder contributed 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists in his debut with the team. Oklahoma City played without their leader, Russell Westbrook, who is still out with an injury.
