The race for the Play-Offs is heating up as we entered the final two months of the regular season at the weekend.
Just four points separate 5th-9th with Leeds Force and Cheshire Phoenix also picking up wins to boost their chances.
The two teams met on Friday with Cheshire coming out on top in an 87-74 victory. Earl Brown top scored with 22 points as the home side netted 10-of-15 from 3-point range in an efficient display.
“We talked about bringing the defensive intensity from the beginning so that would help our offence,” said Brown.
“I credit all our guards for the work they have put it, we expected them to make the shots that they did.
“Our captain Jamell Anderson and Mike (Di Nunno) brought that energy in a game of runs and we came out on top.”
And, Cheshire carried that momentum into their game at Leicester Riders the next day as they opened up a 35-44 half-time advantage.
However, the league leaders responded to improve to 21-2 at the top with an 82-75 win with 16 points for Taylor King as the Riders made it three wins in 8 days against the same opponents.
Leeds bounced back from Friday’s loss with their sixth league victory as the Yorkshire club shot over 70% from 3-point range as they took down London Lions 81-92 at the Copper Box Arena.
Jack Isenbarger finished with a game-high 34 points with the Lions falling to another defeat, despite 33 points from Rashad Hassan.
Meanwhile, Newcastle Eagles recorded an important 92-85 victory over Glasgow Rocks as Rahmon Fletcher scored 15 of his 27 points in the fourth.
The Eagles were without Darius Defoe and Orlan Jackman but still managed to claim a 19th straight win over the Rocks.
The weekend went from bad to loss for Sterling Davis’ side as an under-manned side were beaten 75-89 at home to Surrey Scorchers two days later with Tayo Ogedengbe netting 27 points against his former side.
Plymouth Raiders suffered their sixth defeat in their last eight after Sheffield Sharks bounced back from an 82-69 loss to Bristol Flyers with an 81-87 success.
Aaron Cosby top scored with 20 points to help the Flyers to back-to-back home wins, while Rashawn Rembert responded with 27 points the next day as the Sharks split their double-header in the South-West.
