Alessandro Gentile to go out on loan, will put Milano future on hold

EA7 Milano guard Alessandro Gentile will be loaned out, most likely to a EuroLeague side as both parties look into his future with the club.

Gentile has another year left on his contract but has come to this decision with the support of Milano for whom he has been with since 2011 when he signed from Benetton Treviso.

Last season in the EuroLeague, Gentile averaged 14.3 points for Milano, while shooting 42.9 percent from the field. So far in this campaign, he’s averaging a career best 20 points.

Club Statement:

As of today, Olimpia Milan President, Livio Proli, and Alessandro Gentile mutually agreed on a solution that will allow the player to finish the remaining part of this season in a different club.

Olimpia Milan thanks Alessandro for his great contribution and wishes him to find the right path for his expectations and potential.

Alessandro Gentile desires to thank from the deep of his heart Mr. Giorgio Armani for giving him the opportunities received during the years spent in his basketball project, the Olimpia organization for the time and the victories and finally all the Olimpia fans for the love they showed to him during his time in Milan.

The 24-year-old was also selected in the 2014 NBA Draft, with the Minnesota Timberwolves picking him late in the second round. Though it is an option for Gentile, it is highly unlikely that the Timberwolves will use the Italian next season.

EuroLeague teams that are reportedly interested include CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce with both teams looking for short-term injury cover for Nando De Colo and Bogdan Bogdanovic, respectively. Barcelona have also expressed an interest as well according to Italian media outlets.
