Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young revealed that he tried to confront D’Angelo Russell after the controversial video leak involving his then-girlfriend, Iggy Azalea, in 2016.

During an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Young explained that security prevented him from entering the Lakers’ arena to confront Russell.

“I tried to get to the arena, they had security and everything. They stopped me at the door, told me I couldn’t come in, ‘take a couple of days off,'” he said.

“I had the whole gang with me. It was about to go crazy.”

The dispute began when a privately recorded conversation surfaced online in which Young discussed cheating on Azalea. Russell had recorded the video but reportedly blamed his girlfriend for its release.

“I ain’t never been in a situation like that where my teammate just snitched on me. I was like they’re gonna call me a punk in the media, and I’m mad for real, I gotta do something. I gotta show him. I know he’s young, 19, 18 or whatever, but still you don’t do nothing like that.”

Young also claimed that his associates confronted Russell’s brother in the Lakers’ family lounge.

“I still had to get him so while he was playing, a couple friends of mine had to get his brother in the family lounge and all that. I had to get some type of get-back,” Young told Sharpe.

The controversy damaged the relationship between the two teammates and created tension within the Lakers’ locker room.

Young also recalled returning home after the video surfaced and finding his belongings in the swimming pool. His relationship with Azalea eventually ended.
