Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv earned its first EuroLeague victory of the 2026-27 season with a convincing 97-79 win over Armani Olimpia Milan on Thursday at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, ending a four-game losing streak against the Italian club.
Yam Madar led Maccabi with 17 points, while Bonzie Colson and Jaylen Hoard added 13 apiece. Roman Sorkin contributed 12 points as Oded Kattash’s team improved its offensive execution and delivered a more consistent defensive performance after losing its first three games.
Maccabi shot 69.2% on two-point attempts, making 27 of 39, and scored 1.24 points per possession. The Israeli side also forced 15 turnovers, converting them into 26 points, while committing just eight turnovers after averaging 16 in its opening three games.
Hoard set the tone early, scoring seven points in the opening five minutes. Daniel Theis and Colson then capitalized on offensive rebounds as Maccabi built a 17-7 lead. The advantage reached 11 points before Milan responded to close the first quarter trailing 24-20.
Moses Wright kept the visitors in contention with 10 points in the second quarter, helping Milan cut the deficit to 51-45 at halftime. The center finished with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-10 two-point shooting and eight rebounds, recording his best scoring and rebounding totals since joining Milan.
Milan stayed within five points at 67-62 during the third quarter, but Maccabi finished the period with a decisive 7-0 run. Jimmy Clark’s three-pointer extended the lead to 74-62 entering the fourth quarter, and Colson scored on three consecutive Maccabi possessions as the margin grew to 80-66.
Milan never recovered. Maccabi maintained control down the stretch, securing a 18-point victory and moving to 1-3 in the standings, level with Milan.
Milan, meanwhile, dropped to 1-3 after its third road defeat. Giuseppe Poeta’s team won the rebounding battle 36-27 and collected 13 offensive rebounds, but its 15 turnovers and 26.9% three-point shooting proved costly. Milan made only seven of 26 attempts from beyond the arc.
Maccabi will visit FC Barcelona next Tuesday, while Milan hosts Real Madrid on the same day.
