James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers appear poised to continue their partnership beyond this summer, according to a new report from HoopsHype.

NBA insider Michael Scotto reported that both sides are interested in working out a new deal, with the belief that Harden could remain in L.A. through the 2026–27 season alongside Kawhi Leonard.

The 35-year-old guard played in 79 games during the 2024–25 campaign, averaging 22.8 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.8 rebounds across 35.3 minutes per game.

He also posted a 58.2% true shooting percentage while finishing the regular season with 1,802 total points and a team-high +344 plus-minus.

In the playoffs, Harden’s role expanded further as the Clippers made their third consecutive postseason appearance.

Over seven games, he averaged 18.7 points and 9.1 assists while logging nearly 40 minutes per contest.

He shot 43.6% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc during the first round, while also leading the team in assists and blocks.

Harden signed a two-year, $70 million deal with the Clippers in July 2024, which included a player option for the 2025–26 season worth $36.35 million.

The franchise believes a multi-year extension could offer roster continuity following Paul George’s departure and amid Leonard’s injury concerns.

Leonard missed significant time this season with right knee inflammation, leaving Harden to shoulder the offensive load for large stretches.

Despite that, Los Angeles secured a 50–32 record and the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference, ranking top five in defensive rating and point differential.
