Paul George, after five years with the Los Angeles Clippers, is set to join the Philadelphia 76ers on a monumental contract.
NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports that George has agreed to a four-year, $212 million maximum contract with the 76ers.
This deal was solidified during a meeting between George, his agent Aaron Mintz, and key Sixers officials, including owner Josh Harris, Daryl Morey, Elton Brand, and legend Julius Erving in Los Angeles.
The contract includes a player option, offering George flexibility as he joins forces with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in pursuit of an NBA championship.
Despite a $48.8 million player option for the upcoming season with the Clippers, George opted to seek a long-term commitment elsewhere after contract extension talks stalled.
Throughout the past season, the 34-year-old George showcased his prowess, averaging impressive stats of 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 33.8 minutes per game.
George’s decision marks a significant shift in the NBA landscape and sets the stage for heightened competition in the Eastern Conference.
