The Los Angeles Clippers (27-20) secured a 128-116 win over the San Antonio Spurs (20-24) on Wednesday night, led by a combined 96 points from Kawhi Leonard, Norman Powell, Ivica Zubac, and James Harden.
Leonard and Powell each scored 27 points, while Zubac contributed 21 points and 22 rebounds in a physical battle against Victor Wembanyama. Harden added 21 points and 11 assists, helping Los Angeles claim its third win in four games.
San Antonio kept the game competitive and took a one-point lead in the fourth quarter before the Clippers responded with a strong closing stretch. The Spurs have now lost five of their last six games.
Wembanyama finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks, continuing his streak of 35 consecutive games with both a block and a made three-pointer. Stephon Castle added 20 points, and Devin Vassell scored 19.
The matchup between Wembanyama and Zubac turned tense in the third quarter after a hard foul by the Clippers center. Following a made three-pointer by Harrison Barnes, Zubac shoved Wembanyama from behind, causing the young star to charge at him before being restrained by teammates and staff. Officials decided not to issue a technical foul after a brief discussion.
Los Angeles capitalized on its outside shooting, hitting 12-of-24 from three-point range. The Clippers also controlled the boards, outrebounding San Antonio 57-30. Zubac’s dominant inside presence played a key role in the victory, as he secured nine offensive rebounds.
The Spurs struggled defensively, allowing the Clippers to shoot 52.7% from the field. San Antonio’s bench, led by Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones, combined for 32 points, but it was not enough to overcome Los Angeles’ efficient scoring.
Jeremy Sochan returned to action but remained out of the starting lineup. He finished with seven points and no rebounds after missing multiple games with a lower back injury.
The Clippers improved to 27-20 and will face the New Orleans Pelicans in their next game. The Spurs will look to bounce back when they take on the Dallas Mavericks.
