Malachi Flynn scores 50, but Pistons fall short against Hawks

Despite a phenomenal 50-point performance by Malachi Flynn, the Detroit Pistons (13-63) suffered a 121-113 defeat against the Atlanta Hawks (36-40) on Wednesday night.

Jalen Johnson’s triple-double (28 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists), coupled with stellar performances from De’Andre Hunter (26 points, 7 rebounds) and Dejounte Murray (24 points, 11 assists), propelled the Hawks to victory and secured their berth in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.

Flynn’s incredible display, including shooting 18 for 25 from the floor and 9 for 12 at the line, marked a franchise record for a reserve in Pistons history.

Despite Flynn’s heroic efforts, the Pistons struggled to contain the Hawks’ offensive firepower, resulting in their 10th loss in their last 11 games.

Cade Cunningham’s absence due to a left knee injury further compounded the Pistons’ challenges, depriving them of their leading scorer for the matchup against the Hawks.

Despite a spirited effort from the Pistons, they couldn’t close the gap in the closing moments, falling short against the Hawks’ defense.
