Anthony Davis’ 35-18 double-double propels Lakers past Wizards

Anthony Davis showcased his dominance with a remarkable 35-point, 18-rebound double-double, guiding the Los Angeles Lakers (44-33) to a hard-fought 125-120 victory over the Washington Wizards (15-62) on Wednesday night.

Davis’ standout performance, supported by LeBron James’ 25 points and nine assists, secured the Lakers’ eighth win in nine games.

Rui Hachimura added 19 points and seven rebounds, while D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves contributed 18 and 16 points respectively.

The Lakers, currently positioned ninth in the Western Conference, are intensifying their efforts to climb the standings as they eye a playoff spot.

Despite a strong effort from Jordan Poole, who led Washington with 29 points, the Wizards couldn’t overcome Davis’ commanding presence on the court.

Former Laker Kyle Kuzma added a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Corey Kispert contributed 17 points. Rookie Tristan Vukcevic recorded 15 points as a starter.

With the game seemingly in hand, the Lakers saw their lead narrow in the closing moments, prompting the return of James and Davis to secure the win.

Davis’ crucial block on a three-point attempt by Wizards’ Jared Butler sealed the victory for the Lakers.
