Alperen Sengun erupts for 45 points as Rockets beat Spurs

Rising star Alperen Sengun erupted for a career-high 45 points as the Houston Rockets (27-34) secured a commanding 114-101 win against the San Antonio Spurs (13-49) on Tuesday night. The Turkish center also dominated the boards with game-high 16 rebounds.

As the Spurs attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, Sengun rose to the occasion, leading the Rockets on crucial scoring runs to maintain their lead and secure the victory.

Sengun’s effort was supported by Jalen Green (23 points), Fred VanVleet (21 points, 10 rebounds), and Cam Whitmore (19 points, 8 rebounds).

With the game on the line, Sengun showcased his clutch gene, scoring Houston’s final five points, including a pivotal 3-pointer, to seal the win in emphatic fashion.

Despite a spirited effort from the Spurs, led by Devin Vassell’s 22 points and Malaki Branham’s 20 points off the bench, they were unable to contain Sengun’s offensive onslaught.

Spurs’ rookie sensation Vicor Wembanyama had a quiet game offensively with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and seven blocks.
