Joel Embiid underwent a successful procedure on Tuesday to address a lateral meniscus injury in his left knee. He is slated for re-evaluation in about four weeks.
Despite the setback, the Philadelphia 76ers remain optimistic about Embiid’s potential return within the current season.
With impressive season averages of 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks in 34 games, Embiid’s absence puts a dent in his MVP aspirations as he won’t play enough games to qualify for voting, despite leading the ESPN MVP straw poll in December.
