Joel Embiid on Victor Wembanyama: He is probably the future

San Antonio Spurs’ rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama (33 points) had the best game of his short NBA career in terms of scoring, but it came at the wrong time as it was Joel Embiid’s night who scored career-high 70 points, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a win.

The 20-year-old French prodigy received high praise from the reigning league MVP after the game. Embiid sees Wembanyama as the future of the NBA.

“He is great,” Embiid said, per Cody Taylor of The Rookie Wire. “He has got everything: Size, skill. There is nothing else to say. (He is) probably the future. He is already pretty good but once he develops and his body also catches on, he is going to be a lot of problems for a lot of guys in this league. He is extremely talented.”

The rookie is averaging 20.3 points, 10 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 2.9 assists in 28.5 minutes per game this season. Wembanyama has been on tear in January, contributing 24.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 2.8 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
