With the NBA trade deadline approaching, the Los Angeles Lakers are actively exploring ways to strengthen their roster, but recent reports indicate that third-year guard Austin Reaves is poised to be an untouchable asset in any potential trade.

While various trade scenarios, including players like Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks or Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls, are being speculated, the Lakers have firmly stated their intention to keep Reaves.

According to Jova Buha of The Athletic, Reaves isn’t officially untouchable, but he’s very close to it. The Lakers highly value him and are uninterested in parting ways, given his cost-controlled, team-friendly contract for at least two more seasons. To consider moving Reaves, the Lakers would require either a clear-cut All-Star or multiple rotation upgrades.

Despite the allure of potential trades, the Lakers appear hesitant to sacrifice Reaves, recognizing his consistency and impact this season. Reaves has been averaging 15 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds in 30.2 minutes per game.

Having inked a new four-year, $54 million deal with the Lakers last summer, the 25-year-old guard’s contract underscores the team’s commitment to his role.
