Lonzo Ball, sidelined for nearly two years with persistent knee injuries, is showing signs of progress, raising hopes for a potential return to running in January, according to Bulls head coach Billy Donovan.

Despite being ruled out for the entire 2023-24 season, the 26-year-old point guard is actively engaged in rehabilitation efforts, with Donovan providing a positive update on his status.

In a recent tweet, K.C. Johnson reported Donovan’s optimism, stating, “Billy Donovan said Lonzo Ball was in town last week, and his optimism for a return remains intact. Donovan said, ‘Hopefully in January, he’ll start running.’ The Bulls have ruled Ball out for this season, and January will mark two years since his last NBA game.”

The Chicago Bulls organization is carefully monitoring Ball’s recovery, acknowledging the significance of the upcoming January milestone as it marks the two-year anniversary since the talented guard’s last appearance in an NBA game.

While the current season remains out of reach for Ball, the prospect of resuming running activities in January signifies a crucial step forward in his rehabilitation journey, offering a glimmer of hope for his return to on-court action in the future.
