Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball has officially announced that he will be sidelined for the entire 2023-24 NBA season to prioritize his recovery from a cartilage transplant in his left knee.

Despite the setback, Ball expressed optimism about his ongoing rehabilitation during an appearance on the “From the Point by Trae Young” podcast, hosted by Atlanta Hawks’ point guard Trae Young.

Following a third surgery on his knee since his last game in January 2022, Ball shared insights into his journey. “When I first got hurt, we didn’t really know what it was… That was really hard for me because I just didn’t know what the next day was going to be like,” the 25-year-old point guard said via Jamal Collier of ESPN.

“At least now, I got the surgery. We got a plan moving forward. We’ve been on plan. I’m on track. Hopefully, everything works out. I just leave it up to God and do the best I can and live with the results.”

Prior to his injury, the Ball averaged 13 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists over 35 games during the 2021-22 NBA season.
