Luka Doncic’s 39-point showdown guides Mavericks to dominant win over Spurs

Luka Doncic orchestrated a 39-point triple-double as the Dallas Mavericks (17-12) dominated the San Antonio Spurs (4-24) with a resounding 144-119 win on Saturday night.

Doncic’s brilliance was on full display as he secured 12 rebounds and notched his 10th assist just before exiting the game at the end of the third quarter. This marked his 36th 30-point triple-double, putting him one shy of LeBron James for third on the career list.

The Spurs faced more adversity when Victor Wembanyama injured his ankle in a mishap with a ball boy before the game. Despite wanting to play, the 19-year-old was held out for precautionary reasons by coach Gregg Popovich.

Jeremy Sochan led the Spurs with 23 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Mavericks’ offensive onslaught. Tim Hardaway Jr. contributed 23 points, and Dante Exum added 20 for Dallas.
