Joel Embiid drops 50 points as Sixers edge Wizards

In a stellar performance, Joel Embiid led the Philadelphia 76ers (13-7) to a thrilling 131-126 victory over the Washington Wizards (3-17) on Wednesday night, showcasing his dominance with a season-high 50 points and 13 rebounds.

Embiid, a six-time 50-point scorer in his career, demonstrated his scoring prowess by shooting 19 of 24 from the field, including a successful 3-pointer on two attempts, and converting 11 of 13 free throws. Returning from a two-game absence due to illness, the reigning NBA MVP also contributed seven assists and played just over 38 minutes.

Teammate Tyrese Maxey played a pivotal role, adding 26 points along with seven assists, complementing Embiid’s outstanding performance.

Despite a spirited effort from Jordan Poole, who led the Wizards with 23 points, Washington couldn’t overcome the Sixers’ offensive firepower.

In supporting roles for the 76ers, De’Anthony Melton contributed 18 points, and Kyle Oubre Jr. made a return after an 11-game absence, scoring 12 points in 19 minutes.

For the Wizards, Tyus Jones led with 20 points, while Daniel Gafford, Kyle Kuzma, and Corey Kispert each added significant contributions with 18 and 16 points, respectively.
