In a bold move this offseason, former No. 2 draft pick Jabari Parker departed the NBA for a new chapter with EuroLeague powerhouse FC Barcelona, and the 28-year-old power forward couldn’t be happier with the decision.
“Basketball is bigger than the NBA. Basketball is global,” emphasizes Parker in an exclusive feature with the EuroLeague.
Reflecting on his early exposure to international basketball during the Olympics, Parker expresses a lifelong ambition to play at the highest level, regardless of location.
His love for the EuroLeague is evident as Parker commends its competitiveness, emphasizing that players approach the game the right way, but most importantly, the atmosphere stands out.
“I love the EuroLeague,” he says. “It’s very competitive, it’s guys who play basketball the right way and the environment [atmosphere], most importantly, stands out.”
“I just want to do what I do best, but most importantly, it’s all about winning,” declares the Barcelona forward. For Parker, team success takes precedence, and being a contributor to that success brings him happiness.
Comparing the NBA and the EuroLeague, Parker notes a significant difference, likening the European competition to his college experience. Every game holds immense importance, contributing to either building or breaking a player.
In his inaugural EuroLeague season, Parker is averaging of 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19 minutes per game, playing a key role in Barcelona’s 8-2 record.
