Greece and Italy have qualified for next year’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament after they saw-off Latvia and Czech Republic respectively in the two Eurobasket classification games in Lille, on Thursday.
Greece overcame Latvia 97-90 in the first game, as Ioannis Bourousis led the way with 20 points, helping the Greeks come back from a 17-point deficit to finish strong in the final period.
Kristaps Janicenoks led all scorers for Latvia with 22 points, shooting 73 percent from the field.
Italy claimed the second Olympic Qualifying spot after they beat Czech Republic 85-70 in the second classification game.
The Azzurri came alive in the third quarter, as their 42-37 advantage at the half, ballooned to 74-54 after three, leading to an easy win.
Andrea Bargnani paced Italy with 21 points in 25 minutes. Jan Vesely led the Czechs with a game-high 26.
Both Latvia and Czech Republic meet on Friday for the final Olympic Qualifying spot.
