The future of Team USA basketball is in the hands of the next generation, as rising stars Tyrese Haliburton and Anthony Edwards express their strong desire to represent the national team at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

Following their experience with Team USA at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where the team clinched a fourth-place finish, the young talents are poised to embrace the torch-passing moment, ushering in a new era of American basketball excellence.

After the conclusion of the World Cup, veteran superstars have publicly announced their intentions to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking a significant shift in the composition of Team USA.

With the influx of seasoned players, the path for the rising talents who contributed to the national team’s journey this year is anticipated to evolve.

In a recent interview with Joe Vardon of The Athletic, Haliburton shared his perspective on the evolving landscape of Team USA.

He acknowledged the desires of established stars like LeBron James and Stephen Curry to play in the Paris Olympics, signaling a shift in the team’s dynamic.

Haliburton and Edwards, two of the younger participants in this year’s FIBA World Cup, are resolute in their commitment to the national team’s future.

“We all saw when we landed and kind of went our separate ways. And never really talked about it. I just know a lot of that group that was together, especially like me and Ant (Anthony Edwards), we know that we both want to play for USA moving forward and kind of help, you know, the torch be passed,” Haliburton said.

He further added, “We know we want to be a part of that — continuing what USA does.”
