Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has long been an advocate for bringing an NBA franchise to the bustling city of Las Vegas.
This aspiration was once again in the spotlight as the four-time NBA champion spoke to the media following a preseason victory against the Brooklyn Nets, right in the heart of Las Vegas.
When questioned about his desire to see an NBA team in Las Vegas, James expressed his viewpoint, stating, “It just makes sense.”
He went on to highlight the city’s growing sports scene, which already includes the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights, the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, and the upcoming arrival of Formula 1 racing.
James also noted the city’s popularity as a host for major events, such as the NBA Summer League and NBA All-Star Weekend.
LeBron emphasized that Las Vegas has a passionate and supportive sports fan base, a sentiment echoed by the enthusiastic crowds that regularly attend events in the city.
“You don’t have to worry about getting fan support, nothing like that. They show every single time, every year, every summer,” he explained.
With the groundwork already laid by various sporting events and franchises thriving in Las Vegas, James firmly believes that the addition of an NBA team would only enhance the city’s sports landscape.
He expressed his optimism about the future, stating, “I think it’s only a matter of time, and I hope I’m part of that time.”
