Payton Watson on LeBron James: “He’s been playing as long as Ive been alive”

In the midst of the Denver Nuggets’ playoff clash against the Los Angeles Lakers, sophomore forward Payton Watson found himself guarding none other than LeBron James, sparking an exchange between the two on the court.

Watson, reflecting on his interaction with the NBA legend during Game 1, shared insights into their on-court banter ahead of Game 2.

“Definitely a lot of chatter between me and Bron,” Watson said. “I’m kind of just trying to feel out where his mind is in this series. He’s kind of poker face. He’s not going to play all his cards.”

Facing off against James in the postseason provided Watson with a unique opportunity to engage with one of basketball’s greatest players.

“I definitely tried to talk to him a little bit, trying to get a feel for him. But for me really it’s like I got a chance to talk to LeBron James right now. I’m still 21 years old. He’s been playing as long as Ive been alive. So I had a chance to talk to LeBron James and I did,” Watson laughed.

As the Nuggets secured a convincing 114-103 victory over the Lakers in Game 1, Watson’s encounter with James added a unique dimension to the playoff atmosphere.
