Kings waive center Neemias Queta

The Sacramento Kings have decided to waive center Neemias Queta. This decision comes after the Kings recently signed JaVale McGee to a free agent deal, prompting them to make roster adjustments.

Alongside Queta, the Kings are also parting ways with center Nerlens Noel, both of whom had signed partially guaranteed one-year deals with the team earlier this offseason.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on X, stating, “After signing JaVale McGee to a free agent deal, the Sacramento Kings are waiving centers Nerlens Noel and Neemias Queta to give them a chance to play elsewhere. Both signed partially guaranteed one-year deals with Kings this summer.”

Before joining the Kings, Queta had been drawing interest from the Portland Trail Blazers and Partizan Belgrade.

During the 2022-23 season, Queta split time between the NBA and the Kings’ G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

His limited NBA appearances saw him averaging 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in just 5.8 minutes per game. However, it was in the G League where he truly flourished, averaging 16.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists across 29 games.

Queta, who was selected as the 39th pick in the 2021 NBA draft, etched his name in history as the first Portuguese player to step onto the NBA court.
