Toni Kukoc has thinks that his Chicago Bulls team could have defeated Hakeem Olajuwon’s Houston Rockets, who clinched two NBA championships during Michael Jordan’s brief retirement in 1994 and 1995.
Speaking with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Kukoc expressed his confidence in the Bulls’ ability to prevail in a matchup against the Rockets. He stated, “I think we would’ve beaten them. We beat them that year every game we played.”
Kukoc didn’t hold back in his praise for Olajuwon, hailing him as the greatest center of all time in terms of basketball skills and fundamentals. He acknowledged the unique challenge posed by Olajuwon’s combination of size, speed, and versatility on the court.
Comparing Olajuwon’s skills to modern-day debates such as Kevin Durant vs. LeBron James, Kukoc emphasized the diversity of greatness in basketball, where each player brings a unique style to the game.
Kukoc further elaborated on the hypothetical matchup: “I’m SURE that we would’ve beaten Houston, but I think that we would’ve been… it was different matchups. I think that we were better outside, and obviously they were better inside, but we had lots of guys that could spend fouls on Hakeem.”
In discussing the fierce competition, Kukoc highlighted the contrasting strengths of the two teams: “They were better inside, but we had shooters. We had three-point shooters. They had great shooters too, but not the way we did.”
