Byron Scott: LeBron James’ scoring record unbreakable

In the 2022-23 NBA season, LeBron James achieved a major milestone by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, amassing a staggering 38,652 career points, surpassing Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387 points.

Lakers legend Byron Scott, when asked if he believes LeBron’s scoring record can be broken, was unequivocal in his response.

“No, I don’t,” he said in a conversation with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson. Scott’s reasoning is rooted in LeBron’s remarkable consistency and durability over two decades in the league.

“LeBron has played 20 years in the NBA, never really been fully hurt,” Scott said. “When he gets hurt, he gets right back. He keeps himself in unbelievable condition. He’s going to play another year. So I think he’s probably going to get to the point where he has over 40,000 points in this league, and I don’t think that’s going to be broken, especially in our lifetime.”
