In the ever-evolving landscape of the NBA, player contracts and extensions often take center stage. After witnessing Domantas Sabonis sign a record-breaking deal with the Kings, all eyes are now on the Jazz and their rising star, Lauri Markkanen.

Traded to the Jazz in a high-profile deal involving Donovan Mitchell, the 26-year-old Finnish forward has been making waves on the court. In his debut season with Utah, Markkanen showcased his potential by delivering career-high stats, averaging 25.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

With his current 4-year, $67 million deal set to conclude in 2024-25, the Jazz management is already exploring the possibility of securing a renegotiation and extension with the talented forward. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype revealed that Markkanen is a strong candidate for such a deal, especially considering the unique terms of his contract.

Currently owed $17.3 million for the upcoming season, Markkanen’s 2024-25 salary of $18 million has a partial guarantee of only $6 million. This arrangement opens up opportunities for the Jazz to negotiate a more favorable and long-term contract that benefits both the team and the player.

As the 2024-25 season approaches, all eyes will be on Utah’s front office as they navigate the path to securing Markkanen’s future with the team.
